Sinai Peninsula in Asia, separated by the Suez Canal, is also included. The most regions, covered by vast stretches of desert, are dominated by tropical desert climate. It is torrid and arid all year round, and there is not a drop of rain in most places. The temperature difference is very large between day and night in Egypt. That’s to say, it is burning hot during the day, but cool or even cold after night falls.
Although not very obvious, Egypt has four seasons. The high temperature makes summer from June to August unbearable, while winter from December to February is cool and pleasant with lower temperature. The spring and autumn are not that hot, but not cool, either.

Northern Egypt – Mediterranean Coast & Nile Delta
Major Destinations: Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said Weather Review: The northern coast, facing the Mediterranean Sea, has milder weather than the desert regions. There might be a little rain from December to March, varying within 50-200mm in total, when it becomes wetter. In capital Cairo, the mean temperature reaches 35℃ (95℉) in summer, but to coolest January, it won’t exceed 19℃ (66.2℉). Travel Recommendation: In Egypt, Giza Pyramids is certainly unmissable. Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure are the grandest ones to explore the mysterious old civilization, together with the Great Sphinx and Valley Temple nearby. Egyptian National Museum houses precious ancient Egyptian relics, such as the famous Tutankhamun’s golden mask. Citadel of Saladin, Black and White Desert, the Hanging Church, Alexandria Library, Citadel of Qaitbay, Pompey’s Pillar, the Suez Canal, etc. are all visit-worthy. Major Destinations: Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh Weather Review: In tropical desert climate zone, the weather is broiling and droughty in the central and southern Egypt. It is hardly to see a raindrop on the land. Red Sea coasts may have lower temperature than the inland, but very slightly. Visitors would experience a wide temperature difference between day and night, which gets greater as one goes south. The temperature rises to as high as 41/42℃ (105.8/107.6℉) in summer averagely; at hottest time, it may reach 48℃ (118.4℉) according to historical records. Travel Recommendation: Along the Nile, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Abu Simbel Temple, Temple of Philae, and more old remains show the Egyptian civilization to visitors. The High Dam in Aswan is a pride of modern Egypt. Red Sea beaches are stunning to enjoy sunshine and beach funs, and diving is definitely a fascinating activity, to see the underwater world of Red Sea.
Sandstorm Season in Egypt
From March to May, it is the high season of sandstorm in Egypt. The dry-hot wind blows from Sahara desert hinterland and sweeps across Egypt, making the sky orange with sands in the air. Sandstorms influence the visibility and traffic inevitably; flights and cruises would be shut if there is a strong sandstorm. Besides, there might also be a few sandstorms during other months, but the probability is small. Remember to avoid the sandstorm season or such weather when planning your tour to Egypt.
