Yangpu District, Shanghai

Yangpu District is located in the northeastern part of Shanghai central area. It is on the northwestern bank of the lower reaches of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong New Area across the river. It also borders Hongkou District on the west and Baoshan District on the north. The economic strength of Yangpu District is very strong. As one of the sub-centers of Shanghai and one of the top ten commercial centers, Wujiaochang is located in Yangpu District Shanghai. Yangpu District is rich in tourism attractions including Shanghai Academician Hall, National Memorial Square.

Attractions include Fisherman’s Wharf, Shanghai Academician Hall, Shanghai International Fashion Center, National Memorial Square and other places in Yangpu District. You may need 1-2 days for Yangpu District travel.

 Fisherman’s Wharf
It is an international public activity center themed sea and fishing culture for travelers and local people. Visitors can have a full view of the Huangpu River and the city on the viewing platform while having a taste of delicious food such as Shanghai cuisine, desserts and foods from different countries.
 

 Shanghai International Fashion Center
It is the largest fashion center undertaking various international fashion events in Asia. The exterior wall is made of red bricks which not only retains the history of Shanghai industrial civilization in the 1920s, but also incorporates the aesthetic elements of contemporary fashion. There are also some nice hotels and fancy restaurants nearby.

 Yangpu Bridge
This bridge is a cross-river passage connecting Yangpu District and Pudong New Area. Travelers can take the sightseeing elevator to the main bridge floor, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of both sides of the Huangpu River.

 Wujiaochang
Now, it has developed into one of the most prosperous areas in Shanghai. Hesheng International Plaza, Orient Shopping Center and Wanda Plaza are good places to go shopping. There are also many restaurants offering different local cuisines. Travelers can take Metro Line 10 and get off at Wujiaochang Station.

The best time to visit Yangpu District Shanghai is from March to April and from September to November. During this time, the temperature is 15-21℃ (59-69.8℉) which is very suitable for travelers. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone which is characterized by a mild climate, abundant rainfalls and sunshine, and distinct seasons. The annual temperature in Yangpu District is 15-22℃ (59-71.6℉). The Heat Island phenomenon is obvious. The temperature in the district center area is significantly higher than in the suburbs.
 

Every June and July is the plum rains season with high air humidity and high temperature.

Yangpu District is about 40 kilometers (24.9 miles) from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Travelers can get to Shanghai Pudong International Airport first, and then take airport express 4 and Bus No.155 to Yangpu District Shanghai. It is convenient for travelers to take Metro Line 10 at Terminal 2 of Hongqiao, and then transfer Line 12 at South Shaanxi Road Station to Yangpu District Shanghai. Travelers can choose to take high speed trains to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station which is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from Yangpu, and then take Metro Line 2 and transfer Line 12 at West Nanjing Road Station.
 

Within the city area, transportation is very convenient. Metro Line 3, 10, 8, 12 are available. The taxi charges CNY 14 for the first 3 km, CNY 2.4/km for not more than 10 km, and CNY 3.6/km for subsequent distance. It costs CNY80-90 from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and CNY 60-70 from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport

 Yixinzhai
With more than 60-year-history, it has received the title of Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is famous for beef fried dumplings and beef soup.
