Traditional City Center

Huangpu District, subordinate to Shanghai, is located in the southwest end of the confluence of Huangpu River and Suzhou River. It is close to Hongkou District and Yangpu District on the north, Luwan District on the south, Jing’an District on the west, and Pudong New Area on the east. It is one of the most prosperous and central areas of Shanghai where visitors can appreciate the wonderful cityscape. In addition, there are many Shanghai landmarks, old buildings and streets such as the Bund, Shanghai People's Square, Nanjing Road, Yu Garden and Shanghai Museum. It is better to spend 2-3 days to have an enjoyable Huangpu District travel.

 The Bund
Near to Huangpu River, the Bund is one of the must-see scenic spots in Huangpu District Shanghai with 33 buildings in different styles. Numerous skyscrapers that stand on the opposite side of the Huangpu River can be seen in the Bund, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower and  World Financial Center. At night, visitors can take a Huangpu River cruise at the Bund to enjoy the stunning night scenery.

 Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road is one of the ten famous pedestrian streets in China and the earliest commercial street established after the opening of Shanghai port. It is a shopping paradise as a lot of department stores gather here with a complete range of goods. Creative city sculptures are everywhere, and there are plenty of chairs in the middle of the street for visitors to relax. It's a good experience to ride a scaled-down version of the old tram which was the main transportation method in Shanghai before.
 
 Yu Garden
Built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Yu Garden is known as one of the five classical gardens in Shanghai with the exquisite pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters. The highlights of Yu Garden include the Great Rockery, Cuixiu Hall, Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber and Exquisite Jade Rock. On the outside of Yu Garden is Yuyuan Bazaar where visitors can buy souvenirs and taste delicious foods.

 Shanghai Museum
Shanghai Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art, with 12 special exhibition rooms and over 120,000 fine collections. The museum gathers historical relics of different dynasties, especially bronzes, chinaware, calligraphy and paintings. In addition, special exhibitions are often held in the museum, displaying various Chinese and foreign cultural relics, art works, calligraphy and paintings.

The best time to visit Huangpu District Shanghai is March to May and October to November when the climate is relatively pleasant with the average temperature of 15℃ (59℉). Huangpu District China has four distinctive seasons. From July to August are the hottest months of the year and the highest temperature is 37℃ (97℉). December to February is the coldest period of the year with a temperature of 7℃ (45℉). The rainy season in Shanghai starts in the middle of June every year and lasts for a month. It is not a good time to have a Shanghai travel.

Visitors can fly to Shanghai Pudong International Airport and then take Metro Line 2 to Huangpu District Shanghai or to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and then take Metro Line 10 to there. It is easy to reach there by bullet trains as the Shanghai Railway Station provides all kinds of scheduled trains.

Metro, buses and taxis are the main transportation means in Huangpu District Shanghai. The Shanghai Maglev Train also serves the public and visitors can reach the Shanghai Pudong International Airport in 40 minutes. Metro Line 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 13 are available there. Visitors can take Metro Line 10 and 2 to get to the Bund and Nanjing Road. It is also recommended to take the Shanghai Sightseeing Bus for a one-day or two-day city tour. The starting price and charging standard of Shanghai taxi are different between day and night.
