Hongkou District, under the jurisdiction of Shanghai City, is located in the northeast of Shanghai. It connects Yangpu District on the east, Zhabei District on the west, Baoshan District on the north, Pudong New Area and Huangpu District on the south. The territory of Hongkou District was originally the beach of the East China Sea. There were 50 large and small rivers in history. North Sichuan Road, 1933 Old Millfun and Lu Xun’s Former Residence are good places to visit.

The northern section is rich in cultural heritages including North Sichuan Road Park, Lu Xun Park and Duolun Road.

 Shanghai Peace Park
It is a comprehensive park in the Chinese natural landscape garden style. It is divided into three spots including scenic area, animal viewing area and entertainment area for children. There are Baihua Hall, Waterside Pavilion and Marble Boat which reflect the characteristics of Chinese classical architecture. Travelers can have a tea-tasting while enjoying the natural scenery.
 
 Shanghai Postal Museum
The main building is in the ancient Roman architectural style, and the tower is in Italian Baroque style in 17 century which reflects elegance and majesty. This museum perfectly combines these two different styles together and was once listed as one of the top ten buildings in Shanghai.
 
 1933 Old Millfun
As an old slaughter house in the past, the whole building is in old Roman Basilica Domus style. And its basic structure of round outside but square inside also coincides with Chinese Feng Shui. Unique buildings featured the covered bridge and beamless structural design are also worth visiting. Travelers can walk on the covered bridge, take photos and have a taste of delicious food nearby.

The best time to visit Hongkou District Shanghai is from March to April and from September to November with a temperature of 15-21℃ (59-69.8℉). The climate in Hongkou belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate which is characterized by a mild climate, abundant rainfalls and distinct seasons. From April to September is the rainy season.
 
The summer from June to August is very hot with a temperature from 25℃ (77℉) to 38℃ (100.4℉). The winter from December to February is not so cold with a temperature from 0℃ (32℉) to 10℃ (50℉).

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from Hongkou District, and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is about 26 kilometers (16 miles). Shanghai Pudong International Airport is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Hongkou District. Travelers can take Metro Line 2 and transfer outer circle Line 4 to Hongkou after getting off the plane.
 
The metro lines including 3, 4, 8, 10, 12 are in service every day and the bus lines almost extend to all directions. The taxi charges CNY 14 for the first 3 km, CNY 2.4/km for no more than 10 km, and CNY 3.6/km for subsequent distance. It costs CNY60-70 from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, CNY170-180 from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
