Known as Oriental Center of Tibetan Buddhism and Capital of Agate
Fuxin City lies in the northwest corner of Liaoning Province. Its neighbor city to the east is Shenyang, with Dalian to the north. Liaodong (Eastern Liaoning) Bay is situated to its south. During the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368), Tibetan Buddhism was introduced into Fuxin, making it the oriental center of Tibetan Buddhism. Ruiying Monastery and hundreds of cliff sculptures in Haitang Mountain are pilgrimage sites for Buddhists, and also lure many tourists to visit. Many nature reserves also present pristine scenery. Besides, the broad grasslands and white yurts, grand Mongolian festivals and local delicacies all tell about the rich Mongolian folk customs. Fuxin also produces exquisite agate carving crafts, which were once the palace tributes loved by Emperor Qianlong and Empress Dowager Cixi. Many high-quality and cheap agate products can be bought in Shijiazi Town, 69 kilometers (43 miles) away from urban Fuxin, which is the largest distribution center for agate raw materials and agate processing in China.

Weather
The city has a temperate continental monsoon climate, featuring abundant sunshine and four distinct seasons. It is windy in spring, and the temperatures fluctuate greatly. The Fuxin weather in summer is rainy and overcast, which help create high temperatures and high relative humidity. Massive bursts of precipitation become more common during mid-July to mid-August. Affected by the monsoon from Siberia, the winter of Fuxin is chilly, but the sky is clear. Spring and autumn are wonderful times for a visit.
