The construction of Dalian metro line 5 officially started in August 2017 and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in December, 2023. It is planned to extend 24.484 km (15.214 miles) from north to south and have 18 stations between Houguan Village and Hutan New Area, of which 7 are transfer stations.
