Lingyan Cave

Lingyan Cave Forest Park, about 7,413 acres (30 square kilometers), is located at the north tour line of Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province. This park features beautiful natural scenery with the most distinctive feature - karst caves. It contains three scenic areas: Lingyan Cave Group Area, Shicheng Village Rare and Ancient Trees Area and Eco-Tea Garden Area. Nowadays, it is gradually gaining popularity among the locals and tourists and achieved the national 4A level scenic spot in 2008. The favorable eco-environment and the special type of landform contribute to the popularity of Lingyan Cave Forest Park.

This area is inside the main body of a mountain with a height of around seven floors. The tour starts from the top to the bottom. Hence, after entering the mountain track, visitors will begin at the highest floor. This entire area has 36 karst caves for visitors to appreciate, which mainly includes caves named Qingyun, Lianhua, Hanxu, Lingxu, Qiongzhi and Cuiling. There are hundreds of scenic spots among these caves and each of them is decorated with colorful artificial lights. Under this beautiful background, rocks in the caves become more attractive. Some stalagmites, columns and stalactites combine together and form special shapes endowed with certain cultural meanings. Besides charming natural scenery, cultural relics also attract attention with more than 2,000 inscriptions from famous calligraphers of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

There are more than a hundred rare and ancient trees in Shicheng Village, such as ancient maples, prunus campanulatas, ginkgoes, Chinese yews and locust trees. The most impressive scenery is a group of magnolia trees. This group contains 17 trees in total. Some of them are thousands of years old and are considered the oldest and rarest trees in China. Embraced by mountains from each side, this village is like an inlaid emerald. Its advantageous location and unique natural scenery make it a summer and health resort for visitors to retreat from bustling city life.

Red maple is also a unique sight in this village. In late autumn every year, the leaves of two hundred year old gum maple trees with a deep history turn into a glowing red. From afar, the mass of red is just like a sea of fire. Tall maple trees, white walls and grey roofs form a beautiful and representative scene of a Chinese ink painting. It’s worthwhile for tourists to come and see this scenery. 

This area is located between Lingyan Cave Group and Shicheng Village. With an area of 168 acres (680,000 square meters), this garden is distributed on the hillside. In the eco-tea garden nearby, numerous leafy trees are planted. The whole tea garden is filled with the alluring smell of tea that makes visitors feel peaceful and comfortable. The Chinese Tea Research Institute identified that the eco-tea garden in Wuyuan is the most appropriate place to plant organic teas. Nowadays, there are many kinds of famous and high-quality organic tea, such as Mingmei Tea, Jianfeng Tea, Fairy Tea, Tianxiang Tea and Maofeng Tea. Visitors can taste all kinds of tea there, while gaining a better understanding of the history of Chinese tea and the process of tea planting. This eco-tea garden has become a new type of modern sightseeing tea garden which is considered a combination of modern technology and ancient civilization. After finishing the tour, the garden provides plenty of entertainment activities for tourists to enjoy and relax, including Anhui opera performances, exorcising dance and tea ceremonies.

Take minibus from Wuyuan County Bus Station, and get off at Lingyan Cave Station.
There are many direct buses from 06:00 to 16:30 every day.
