Air
Train
Nanchang Railway Station, West Railway Station and Xiangtang Railway Station are the three main passenger train stations in this city.
Nanchang Railway Station is about 1.9 miles (3km) from the downtown area. Most trains leave for Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chongqing, Shenyang and other cities. You can take public bus no. 2 (inner line), 2 (outer line), 9, 10, 18 (inner line), 22, 27, 29, 89, 219, 221, 232, 302, 305, and 307 to the railway station direct. Bus no. 2 (inner line) runs to the Pavilion of Prince Teng.
West Railway Station is located southwest of the city center. Both ordinary and bullet trains to/from major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, Jiujiang, and Wuyishan operate here. As an important stop along the Shanghai-Kunming High Speed Railway, it has become a high standard and modern passenger transport hub. After arriving, tourists can take subways, city buses and airport shuttle buses to surrounding areas. The transportation is very convenient.

As well, trains at Xiangtang Railway Station depart for cities in the Pearl River delta and Yangtze River delta, such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing. Passengers can take public bus no. 236 to the station direct.
Long-distance Bus
Chang'an Bus Station: The station provides coaches to Taihu, Changsha, Quanzhou, Fuzhou, Jinjiang, Jinhua, Wenzhou, Wuhan and Yichang, as well as several cities in Jiangxi Province.
Location: Opposite Nanchang Railway Station.
Transportation: You can take public bus to the railway station first, and then walk to the bus station.
Main Bus Station: Many bus routes from this station can take passengers to several big cities, such as Wuhan, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Sanya. In addition, tourists can take a direct coach to Poyang Lake.
Location: No.161, Bayi Avenue, Donghu District
Transportation: Take bus no.1, 6, 9, 10, 22, 88, 302, 303 or 317 to get to Yongshu Intersection. Then walk north to get there.
Hongcheng Bus Station: Long-distance buses in this station are mainly bound for main cities and counties within Jiangxi Province, such as Yongxin, Anfu, Shanggao, Yifeng and Gao’an.
Location: No. 288, West Jianshe Road, Xihu District
Transportation: You can take public bus No. special 9, 33, 211, 216, 218 or Tourist bus 2 to get here.
Changnan Bus Station
Covering an area of 6.8 acres (2.7 hectares), this bus station has 18 routes bound for suburban areas, counties and towns in this city.
Location: The junction of Yingbin Avenue and Zhenxing Avenue
Transportation: Public bus no.89, 128, 150, 158, 201, 218, 235, 239, 519, 526, or 707 run to this station.
Qingshan Bus Station: Coaches departing from this station can reach Wuhan, Xiaogan, Yangzhou, Wuyuan, Jingan, Taishan, etc. Passenger also can take a direct coach to Lushan National Park.
Location: No. 19, South Qingshan Road, Donghu District
Transportation: You can take public bus no. 1, 8, 18 (inner line), 237, 303 or 705 to South Qingshan Crossing Station. Then walk to the bus station.
Xufang Bus Station
This bus station has more than 100 routes and 800 long-distance buses. These buses are mainly bound for nearby towns, counties and cities within Jiangxi Province. There are also several buses that can take tourists to Poyang Lake.
Location: No.850, Jinggangshan Avenue, Qingyunpu District
Transportation: You can take public bus no.1, 88, 89, 158, 201, 203 or 236 to reach this station.
Nanchang metro line 1, line 2 and line 3 serve to the public nowadays. Line 1, connecting Shuanggang and Yaohu Lake West includes stops at main attractions like Pavilion of Prince Teng, Kongmu Lake and Aug. 1st Nanchang Uprising. The line 2 southern extension, extending for 19.6 km (12 mi), was put into operation in August, 2017. This line runs from Nanlu to Metro Tower via West Railway Station and International Sports Centre. Nanchang metro line 3 runs between Jindong Avenue and Yinsanjiao North. Including line 4, the city is planned to operate 15 metro lines in the future, which will cover the length of 667 kilometers (414 miles) by 2050.

The bus categories are mainly downtown regular lines, suburban lines, tourist lines, night lines, express lines and special lines. Generally speaking, the ticket is CNY1 for non-air-conditioned buses and CNY2 for air-conditioned ones.
