An Important Transportation Hub of the Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River

Located in the south of Jiangsu Province, Jiangyin is a county-level city managed by Wuxi City. It lies on the Yangtze River on the north, near the Tai Lake on the south, Changshu City and Zhangjiagang City on the east, Changzhou City on the west. With convenient transportation, Jiangyin has always been an important transportation hub and a harbor for river-sea intermodal transportation. Jiangyin has developed a good economy with strong manufacturing industry, leading China's county economy. The Huaxi Village in Jiangyin is one of the six richest villages in China. There are a large number of forts and other important fortifications in Jiangyin since it was the most critical fortress to guard the Yangtze River in the past.

 Hailan Pegasus Watertown
Hailan Pegasus Watertown is a European town with the horse as its theme. In the daytime, it is the most beautiful place for taking photos with all kinds of European buildings, colorful walls, exotic sculptures and open water. In the evening, colorful lights add more charm to the scenic area and the amazing fountain show (19:00-19:30) can’t be missed. You will be definitely impressed by a 200-meter long painting, a number of rare horses and various kinds of horse related fine art works displaying at the museums. After watching the excellent horse show, you can ride a horse at the Equestrian Training Hall.

 Huaxi Village
Huaxi Village is one of the richest villages in China with a continuous row of villa groups. There are more than 80 scenic spots in the village. Tourists can overlook the whole village in the 17-story Huaxi Gold Tower, the landmark of the village, and visit the Golden Bull worth 300 million RMB at Longxi International Hotel. The antique architecture at the Huaxi Art Museum absorbing the elements of the Forbidden City is one of the highlights. The west side is the main road of Huaxi Village lined with shopping malls, theater, venue and restaurants. Tourists can also visit the local family to experience country life.

 E’bizui Park
E’bizui Park, one kilometer away from the urban area, has beautiful scenery and is a great place to watch the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge. The Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge is the first large-scale steel box girder suspension bridge with a span of more than one kilometer (0.6 miles) in China. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent Yangtze River along the Eshan trestle, winding from east to west. Yuntingchao Pavilion offers the stunning river view and the magic scenery of the backflow of the river.

Best Time to Visit Jiangyin

The best time to visit Jiangyin is from March to May and from September to November. From March to May is the spring time of Jiangyin Jiangsu when E’bizui Park shows its beautiful natural scenery. From September to November, the weather is less rainy and colder than in July and August with an average temperature of 19℃ (66℉). It is cold in Jiangyin Jiangsu from December to February as the temperature can drop to -6℃ (21℉). The extremely hot weather of over 35℃ (95℉) often occurs in July and August. The rainy season of Jiangyin Jiangsu is from the middle of June and will last for a month.

Transportation

Visitors can take a flight to Nanjing Lukou International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport or Wuxi Shuofang International Airport and then take a coach to Jiangyin, taking about 2, 3, 2.5 and 2 hours respectively. Or visitors can take a bullet to Nanjing South Railway Station and then get to Jiangyin Jiangsu by coach.

The transportation means in Jiangyin Jiangsu include buses and taxis. It charges CNY8 for the first 2km of Jiangyin taxi and CNY2.85/km for the next distance. CNY 10-20 is needed from the urban area to Jiangyin Bus Station.

In Jiangyin Jiangsu, the Jiangyin Puffer Soup, Coilia Ectenes Noodles, Sweet Osmanthus Porridge, and Horseshoe-shaped Cake are the most popular local foods.

Puffer is poisonous and needed to be processed carefully. But it is very popular in Jiangyin for its fresh and tasty flavor.
 
 Horseshoe-shaped Cookie
The Horseshoe-shaped Cookie tastes crispy and sweet. The main ingredients are flour oil, sugar, red bean paste and sesame. Make the cake into a horseshoe shape and bake until done.

 Baked Tuolu Cake
The Tuolu Cake is made by oil-mixed dough, sugar with shepherd's purse, red bean paste, jujube kernel, semen juglandis and lard stearin as the stuffing. The cooked Tuolu Cake is golden and fragrant and tastes salty and sweet.
