Hubei, in the center of China, has a sub-tropical monsoon climate with abundant sunshine and rains. The average Hubei temperature annually is between 15-17℃ (59-63℉), with cold winter and hot summer. Spring and autumn are short, and the temperature is changeable in spring and decreases rapidly in fall. The most rains fall in summer and southwest area of the province, and the least in winter and northwest area.

Spring (Mar - May)

The Hubei China weather in spring goes with a waving but gradually increasing temperature graph. There are more rains than the past winter, and it is not cold any more but warm. Some disastrous weathers may appear in the season, such as continuous rain, gale, hail, and so on. As the weather is variable in this season, paying a close attention to the Hubei weather forecast is necessary if you’re going to travel there. You can enjoy the endless flowers at East Lake in Wuhan, Enshi Grand Canyon, Three Gorges Tribes in Yichang, etc.

Summer (Jun - Aug)

Hubei summer is quite hot and wet. Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, is one of the hottest cities in summer in whole China. There are more than 20 hot days with the temperature over 35℃ (95℉) every year. There are strong mould rains about from mid-June to mid-July, during which there might be floods along the Yangtze River. It’s not suggested to travel in Hubei in summer, except for the high-altitude areas. Wudang Mountains in Shiyan, Huangpi Mulan Culture Ecological Tourism Area in Wuhan, etc. are pretty scenic spots to cool your down.

Autumn (Sep - Nov)

Hubei weather in autumn is very suitable for travelling, as the temperature drops. It is cool with refreshing breezes, clear sky and less rains, providing tourists a comfortable environment. Sometimes, there are a little continuous light rains. Qingjiang River Gallery, Yangtze Three Gorges, Shennongjia Nature Reserve, Wudang Mountains... are all pretty to see miraculous autumn leaves.

Winter (Dec - Feb)

Winter in Hubei is dry and cold, as the strong cold air is active in the region. The average temperature of Hubei weather in winter is around 2-4℃ (36-39℉) in the most areas. It usually goes together with severe temperature decreasing and strong winds. Sometimes, there are rains, light snows, silver thaws, and frosts, too. The clouds sea at Three Gorges Dam and Dahong Mountain, the snow views on Wudang Mountains, historical sites like Yellow Crane Tower, are all visit-worthy.
