Important Industrial Base in Henan

Situated in northern Henan Province, Xinxiang is separated from Zhengzhou and Kaifeng by the Yellow River to the south, in the neighborhood of southeastern Shanxi to the west and western Shandong to the east. Xinxiang is an important commodity grain base and a high-quality wheat production base in China. With four traditional industries of the chemical industry, paper making, building materials and energy, it is also an important industrial base in Henan Province. Besides, Xinxiang travel features magnificent natural landscapes, mausoleums and ancient garden architecture.

Xinxiang Attractions - Things to Do

Mausoleum of King Lujian

It is located 13 kilometers (8 miles) north of the downtown Xinxiang at the south foot of the Fenghuang (Phoenix) Mountain. Being the most intact princly mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), this memorial consists of two tombs, the King Lujian tomb in the east and the tomb of his wife in the west. Stone carvings preserved in the mausoleum are definitely treasures showing the exquisite standard of art in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Baligou Scenic Area

It nestles in the foothills of the Taihang Mountains. The forest coverage of the scenic area is over ninety percent. In addition to the peerless waterfalls of Northern China and spectacular mountain scenery, it is also a natural reserve for the macaques.

Baiquan Scenic Area

It is the largest and well-preserved ancient garden architecture complex in Henan Province. According to historic records, Baiquan rose before the Shang Dynasty (16th -11th century BC) with more than three thousand years of history. Through dynasties of exploitation and construction, the area is blessed with abundant historical relics.

How to get to Xinxiang

The city is only 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan. For the short distance to the traffic hub of the province, visitors can have Zhengzhou as a transfer station to many other places. The city is no more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, but there is no airport bus reach this city. Visitors should get to Zhengzhou Civil Aviation Hotel in No.3, Jinshui Lu and changes to the airport buses, or take taxis from Xinxiang directly to the airport.

Enjoying a warm temperate continental climate, Xinxiang City has four distinct seasons with an annual average temperature of 14°C (57.2°F). Coldest and hottest days appear in July and January. The autumn is cool and the spring usually comes early. 

 When to Go: Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit the city.

Xinxiang Travel Tips

 History: This area was known as the territory of ancient Yong Kingdom before the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC). It had been over 1,400 years since the Sui (581-618) Court first established Xinxiang County in 586. During the early years after the founding of the PRC, it was the capital city of Pingyuan Province.

 Physical Features: The city lies in the drainage areas of the Yellow River and Haihe River. Therefore, plain is the principal type of landform in this city, occupying seventy-eight percent of its total land area.
