Located 56 kilometers (35 miles) to the southwest of Luoyang City, the Shaolin Temple is an ancestral temple of Chinese Zen Buddhism and a famous Buddhist temple in the world. It is also one of the birthplaces of Chinese Kungfu. Seven main halls on the axis, the Pagoda Forest, the Ancestor’s Monastery, the Second Ancestor’s Monastery and the Dharma Cave are major scenic spots. Martial art performance is also a highlight of the temple.

The White Horse Temple is considered as the cradle of Chinese Buddhism with a history of more than 1,900 years. The two stone horses at the entrance gate facing each other can be traced back to the Song dynasty (960-1279). 23 Buddha statues from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) in the Hall of Mahavira are the greatest treasure of the temple and rare treasure in China. Visitors can also find Thai and Burmese styles temples there.
