How to Travel between Hangzhou and Guangzhou

There is about 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) between Hangzhou and Guangzhou. The best transportation method is by high speed train, costing CNY 720 for a second class seat and taking 6 – 7.5 hours. Normal speed trains are also running to serve passengers between the two cities, taking 16.5 – 21 hours and CNY 317.5 - 373 for a hard sleeper. Direct flights are available taking about 2 hours and CNY 550 – 1,400. Buses between them take about 18 - 19 hours and CNY 350.

Although running at a much lower speed than the high speed trains, this overnight sleeper train saves some daytime for visiting scenic spots as well as one-night hotel expense, hence recommended, especially to budget travelers. Except for this train, there are 3 other normal speed trains from Hangzhou to Guangzhou. But it’s not recommended to take them for the long duration.
 

Over 20 direct flights are operated from Hangzhou to Guangzhou, departing from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
