Haikou Port

Haikou Port is located in the center of Haikou Bay, north of Hainan Island and opposite the Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong Province across Qiongzhou Strait. This port engages in passenger and freight transportation, container transport, tallying and ship repairing and other maritime activities. Not only it is a significant port for trading with more than twenty countries and regions but is also an artery for about 1.4 million inbound and outbound passengers in Hainan Province annually. Haikou Port is composed of Xiuying Port, Xinhai Port and Macun Port.
 

Xiuying Port

Compared with other Haikou ports, Xiuying port is the first choice for inbound and outbound passengers primarily from or to Hai’an and Beihai. Also, the Haikou Bay night cruise uses this port. When the night curtain falls, cruises depart from Xiuying Port and show the tourists around the riveting view of Haikou Bay. Historically, this port had engaged in foreign trade transport since the Chunxi Period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1174-1189). Nowadays, as one of the twenty national ports, Xiuying Port has eleven berths for ships less than 3,000 tons and two berths for ships of 5,000 tons. Equipped with 79 cranes for hoisting and hauling freight, this port has the daily handling capacity of 2,000-3,000 tons, playing an indispensable role in Haikou Port.

Xinhai Port

Xinhai Port mainly serves passengers to or from Hai’an Port in Guangdong Province. At the junction of three national highways, two provincial expressways and a waterway in Haikou city, Xinhai Port is part of an interwoven transportation network. Being a promising component of Haikou port, Xinhai Port is about to be developed as an integrated transportation hub and a tourism distributing center in Hainan Province encompassing water transport, helicopter, hydroplane, and high speed trains.

Macun Port

This port is 39km (24mi) away from downtown Haikou, the has a quay length of 230m (754.6ft). The port is of gravity caisson design and is equipped with four general cargo berths of 20,000 tons, three secondary berths of 5,000 tons and other auxiliary facilities, including breakwaters, bank revetments, electricity supply, drainage devices, fire protection and telecommunication devices. Its annual handling volume has reached 3.9 million tons.

1. Take Chengmai Line 55, city bus 1 or 55. Get off at the Macun Port stop.
2. Take city bus 2 or 10. Get off at the Macun Village stop.
