7 Most Beautiful Beaches in Sanya

Adjacent to downtown, Sanya Bay is the longest beach in Sanya. With 20km (12.4 mi) of coastline, the bay is divided into three sections. From east to west you can experience sightseeing, water recreation and world-class hotel resorts. Perhaps the most popular spot here is ‘Coconut Corridor’, which stretches for 10km (6.2 mi). Here you can walk in between lush coconut trees that genuinely embody the tropical landscape of Sanya.  1.  From the airport: Take the bus (line 1) and get off at the Beautiful Coast stop. Ticket price is CNY15.
 2.  City bus: Take either 25, 26, 32, 57 or 8, and get off at either Beautiful Coast stop, Emergency Center stop, West Section of Sanya Bay stop, or Middle Section of Sanya Bay stop.
 3. Inter-city bus: Take 2 or 3, and get off at Beautiful Coast stop.
 

Located east of Sanya city, Yalong Bay is endowed with a crescent-moon-like coastline that spans 7.5km (4.7 mi). Among Sanya’s beaches, Yalong Bay is regarded as having the best quality water visibility, sand softness, and beach slope. No wonder it is hailed as Oriental Hawaii. Thanks to the unique seafloor and crystal-clear water, tourists are also able to gaze in awe at the colour spectrum on the sea’s surface. Prepare to be dazzled by the transition from pale green to emerald and from light blue to indigo. Visiting the mangrove forest is also a must. Dadonghai Beach is located in Sanya’s downtown area. It is accessible by public transport and is equipped with readily available public amenities. Dadonghai Beach is characterized by warm water, white sand and smooth sand. This beach is so flat that the water level only reaches your waist when going 15m (50ft) offshore. Definitely, a safe place to enjoy some quality time with the family.

 1.  Airport bus: Take line 1 and get off at Dadonghai Square stop. Ticket fee is CNY15.
 2.  City bus: Take micro Line 4 and get off at either Intime Resort stop, Dong-hai-long-gong stop, Zhujiang Garden Parking Lot stop, or Zhujiang Garden Hotel stop.
 

This beach is 23km (14mi) southwest away from the downtown. A spot which has enjoyed long and cherished fame due to the hundreds of uniquely shaped rocks scattered there. Tianya Haijiao literally means the remotest corners of the globe and inscriptions found on the rocks date back to the Qing Dynasty (1727). The rocks there signify love, longevity, fortune, luckiness and happiness, something which you’ll also be sure to find when visiting.

 City bus: Take either the 14, 16, 25, 26, 30, 32, 39, 55 or 57 and get off at the Tianya Haijiao stop.
 

Located north of Sanya, Wuzhizhou Island is famous for freshwater and an abundance of vegetation. The water here is so clear that it offers visibility from 6-27m (20-89ft), creating an incredible underwater view of colourful tropical fish, corals and luminous spirals. In addition, this beach is endowed with over 2,700 types of fauna and flora, including some rare vegetations. The island also offers numerous leisure activities such as snorkelling, motorboats, parasailing. This island is a must for mid-high end tourists when choosing Sanya beaches.

 City bus: Take either the 28, Haitang Bay Line 1 or Haitang Bay Line 3, and get off at Wuzhizhou Island stop and then take the boat.
 

Haitang Bay is situated in the northeast of Sanya, 28km (17mi) from downtown. Developed relatively late, this bay stands out for its cleanliness, serenity and uncontrived beauty. With many high-end hotels scattered around the area, Haitang Bay will definitely be your best choice if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Yazhou Bay is located in southwest Sanya and has an area of 61 sq. Km (23.6 sq. mi). This bay distinguishes itself for historic vestige and the pink landscape. Not only acting as a significant replenishing port of Maritime Silk Road, but this area also used to play an indispensable role in propagating Buddhism to Japan during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). If you’re interested in history, this beach will satisfy your needs. During sunset, this silver-white beach will be dyed into baby pink, a truly spectacular sight.
