Sacred Heart Cathedral

Occupying 0.68 acres (2,754 square meters), it is the most magnificent cathedral in Guangzhou. It is not only the largest Gothic cathedral in China and Southeast Asia, but also one of the four stone made Gothic cathedrals in the world. It consists of a main hall and two side halls on each side. All the walls and pillars are made of granite. Its period of construction lasted from 1863 to 1888, lasting around 25 years. It opens to the public in mornings and Catholics enjoy entry priority. Photo-taking is not allowed while inside.

Transportation: Travelers are suggested to take the Guangzhou metro line 2 or line 6 to Haizhu Square Station and exit the station at Exit B1/B2 to Yide Road. Then walk along Yide Road to arrive at the cathedral.
 

Shamian Catholic Church

Built in 1890, it is located on the southern part of Shamian Island, Guangzhou. It covers an area of about 466 square yards (389 square meters). Besides the main hall, there is a grotto and a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in its courtyard.

Transportation: Take metro line 1 or metro line 6 to Huangsha Station and get out of the station from Exit F. Walk to Shamian Island to find it.
Opening Hours: It opens from 06:00 to 11:00 and from 14:30 to 17:30 during weekdays and from 06:00 to 17:30 on Saturdays and holidays.
