Hometown of Stone Materials

Located on the southeast coast of Fujian Province, Nan'an China is the starting point of “Maritime Silk Road” and the hometown of national hero Zheng Chenggong. It is also the largest and most complete stone production and export base in China and even in Southeast Asia. Nan’an is 80km from Xiamen and 45km from Quanzhou. The transportation is convenient and fast, and it is an important node of the large channel along the southeast coast of Fujian. With Zheng Chenggong’s mausoleum, Anping Bridge and other tourism resources, now Nan’an is a famous tourist city in Fujian.

Attend China (Nan’an) Shuitou International Stone Fair
It is the largest international stone expo in the domestic stone exhibitions with the largest number of booths and the largest scale. It is held once a year in November in Shuitou International Stone Exhibition Center.
 
Walk on the Anping Bridge
It is the longest stone bridge in ancient China, also the longest existing harbor stone bridge. It is a good place to cool off in the summer evening. While walking slowly on the bridge, travelers can enjoy the scenery along the way.
 
Visit Cai Ancient Dwelling Buildings
There are total of 16 existing houses arranged in parallel orderly. The decoration of the interior of the building is very ingenious, and the walls were decorated with paintings and calligraphy works. The two-story Dressing Pavilion is located in the northeast corner, and travelers can have a full view here.
 
Climb Jiuri Mountain
There are many historical sites in the mountains. Qifeng Stone Inscriptions are the most precious. The forest is dense and the scenery is fascinating. With green trees and flowing Jinjiang River, it is a good place to go sightseeing and enjoy the Chinese stone cave culture.

Best Time to Visit Nan’an

The best time to visit Nan’an is not stable. Actually, Nan’an is suitable for travelling all year around. The climate in Nan’an belongs to the south subtropical monsoon humid climate.
 
The latitude position, ocean position and topographical characteristics make the climate of Nan'an Fujian have the following characteristics. The summer lasts from May to October but it is not hot. The winter is short from January to February and warm with fewer rain falls. The temperature in autumn from November to December is higher than in spring from March to April. And the annual average temperature is 17-21°C, the highest temperature is over 30 °C and the lowest is about 10°C. There is no snow in winter.

Transportation

The urban area of Nan’an Fujian is 30km from Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport and about 80 km away from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. There is no train to Nan’an. Frequent buses from Fuzhou North and West Bus Station are in service every day, taking 2-3 hours and the ticket fare is CNY 80. Buses from Anhai Bus Station, Quanzhou Bus Station or Quanzhou Railway Station to Nan’an take about 1 hour and the ticket fare is CNY 15. You can choose to transfer in Xiamen, and then take buses from Wucun, Fanghu, Gaoqi or Jimei Bus Station, taking 1 hour and the ticket fare is CNY 40.
 
In the city, there is no metro. But buses and taxis are very convenient for travelers. The taxis charge CNY 9 for the first 3 km and CNY 2/km for subsequent distance. Taxis charge CNY100-120 from Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport and CNY 220-240 from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport to the city center.

Best Nan’an Food to Try

Nan’an is rich in fruit resources, there is a large production of longan and lychees. The local snacks including Honglai Chicken Feet, Yingdu Fried Glutinous Pudding, Riteng Handmade Noodles, Taro Soup, Spiced Duck and Taitong Red Preserved Bean Curd are very famous.
 
Honglai Chicken Feet: it is made from chicken feet, seasoning powder and a moderate amount of spicy, then steam and fry them. The taste of the chicken feet is lubricious and slightly spicy.
 
Yingdu Fried Glutinous Pudding: it is mainly processed from glutinous rice. The finished product is bright white, smooth and transparent, and it needs to be seasoned when eating. The taste is sweet, soft and slightly icy.
 
Riteng Handmade Noodles: Flour, salt and wheat flour are used as raw materials, and then knead and pull them for many times then dry them in the sun. When cooking noodles, add some vinegar, then sprinkle with chopped green onion, the noodles are very delicious and not easy to break.
