Chongqing Train

Around 140 scheduled trains pass through Chongqing City daily, connecting it to the capital cities of all other provinces in China (except Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia) as well as most of the popuplar tourist cities. Passengers can get to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hangzhou, and even Tibet from the city by rail. Bullet trains for major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Chongqing's suburban area including Wanzhou District, Shizhu County, Hechuan District and Fuling are available. In addition, it is the starting point of an international freight railroad, Yu-Xin-Ou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) International Railroad, which links Chongqing and Duisburg in Germany.

At present, this city has two railway stations, the Railway Station and the North Railway Station. According to the plan, a new station, West Railway Station, began construction in 2014. It will be the largest station in west of China after completion.

Railway Stations

North Railway Station: About 130 trains pass through this station each day, so it is the busiest railway station of the city. Passengers can take bullet or most of the ordinary ones, passing through or originating Chongqing, from this station. It is linked with the local Jiangbei International Airport by subway line 3. On its southwest, there is the Longtousi Long-distance Bus Station. Transferring between railways and long-distance buses are very easy.

Railway Station: It is located at No. 249, Nanqu Road, Caiyuanba area, Yuzhong District and it is the nearest station to Chaotianmen Dock. Around 10 ordinary trains use this station, such as those to/from Kunming, Guiyang, Zuiyi and Neijing.  Travelers are able to take local subway line 3 to Lianglukou Station and walk there.

West Railway Station: This newly planned station lies on the west side of Fengzhong Road, Shangqiao area, Shapingba District. The schedules to Kunming, Guiyang, Changsha, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, etc depart from this station.

East Railway Station: Chongqing East Railway Station, which is under construction, will be open in the year of 2022. It will operate high speed trains to/from Xi'an, Kunming, Changsha and etc.
 

Where to Buy Tickets?

Passengers can purchase a ticket directly at any of the railway stations in Mainland China with a valid ID certificate like passport, or book one from an reliable agency and then pick it up upon arrival at the station.
