With a history of about 1.5 billion years, Jingdong Grand Karst Cave is considered the World’s First Ancient Karst Cave. This scenic area is divided into tourist zones: Grand Canyon and Jingtaishan, covering about 20 square kilometers (about 7.7 square miles). The most elegant landscape of the canyon is the over 30-meter (about 98-feet) high waterfall, steep and magnificent cliff, five linked pools, plank road along the canyon and limpid lake. The karst cave has stalagmite, stone pearl, stalactite, stone sheet, stone flowers and others. Apart from appreciating the various karst stones, tourists can enjoy themselves by drinking Chinese tea or sipping wine. How cozy it is!
Old Elepant Peak Scenic Area lies in a grand canyon of Xiaoyuzi Village, Pinggu. Looking northwards, you will find a peak like a giant elephant. It seems to show the lifelike elephant’s trunk, eyes, legs and even the whole body. A cave on the back of the “elephant” is called Immortals Cave. A legend says that the cave was the lounge of the immortals where they usually rested and collogued. Additionally, there are Tiger Claw Peak, Heavenly Inkstone, Rhinoceros Watching the Moon Stone and other interesting scenic spots.
Canyon is so named due to the Stones Forest in the scenic area. The distinctive landscape is reflected by the stones, valley, water, peaks and forest here. Covering about 12 square kilometers (about 4.6 square miles), the canyon includes over 50 scenic spots. Mt. Shilin formed during the past 1.4 billion years as the geological conditions change presenting various stone shapes. Xiagu Rock is said to pay respect to a girl named Xiagu who persisted in her love to her husband. There are other interesting rocks which are named after the love affairs between Xiagu and Sanlang. You can imagine these stories over the enjoyment of beautiful scenery.
