If you transfer in Lanzhou, you can take bus No. 1, 31, 137, and k102 to transport between Lanzhou Railway Station and Lanzhou West Railway Station; the duration is about 1 hour. You can also take a taxi to transport between the 2 stations. It take about half an hour by taxi with the cost of around CNY 25.
 A new railway between the two cities will be put into service in 2026 with the top design speed of 200 km/h (124 mi). The new railway has the ability to carry both normal speed and high speed trains. After this railway opened, the running distance between the 2 cities will be reduced to 2,810 km (1,746 mi). Accordingly, the duration of this line will fall to about 17 hours.
