Suzhou - Guangzhou Train

There is no direct high speed rail between Suzhou and Guangzhou. For the long distance of 1,878 kilometers (1,167 miles), only one pair of normal speed K-type trains is in operation. The duration is more than 20 hours, which means passengers need to stay for a night onboard, making a sleeper ticket necessary. For a more comfortable and faster trip, you can have a transfer in Shanghai to take high speed trains. This transit cuts the whole duration down to only 10 hours or so.

 Transferring in Shanghai is very convenient to travel between Suzhou and Guangzhou, for you can make the transfer in the same station and don’t need to go out. One hour is enough to connect the two legs of trips. There are over 100 pairs of bullet trains between Suzhou and Shanghai, and 4 pairs of regular high speed trains between Shanghai and Guangzhou.  There is no airport in Suzhou, and the nearest airport is in Shanghai. Taking a flight is also a good option to save time. You can take a high speed rail from Suzhou or Suzhou North to Shanghai Hongqiao Station, which only takes about 30 minutes. Then you can walk or take the metro to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to take a flight to Guangzhou, and the flight duration is about 2.5 hours. There are many flights available, and the airfare for the full price ticket is CNY 1,400 per ticket including tax. But sometimes, there will be discount tickets available for this route. In this case, flight is a better option than train.
