Lanzhou - Jiayuguan Train

About 11 pairs of high speed trains are available between Lanzhou West Railway Station and  Jiayuguan South Railway Station, where the west end of Ming Great Wall is located. It takes 4.5-5 hours to finish this 710-kilometer-long (about 441 miles) journey and the ticket fare for a second class seat is CNY215. The normal speed overnight sleeper trains also run between, taking a longer time of 6-11 hours and costing CNY223 at most for a hard sleeper.

A high speed rail trip saving some time is a good option for those who travel in a hurry. The facilities and environment on high speed trains are much better. Budget travelers would like to choose the overnight sleeper trains which save the day time and one-night accommodation fee, but sometimes, 20 – 30 minute delays may occur and the facilities on normal speed trains are kind of backward.

All of them run between Lanzhou Railway Station and Jiayuguan Railway Station. Among them, Z type trains generally take the shortest time of 6 hours. If passengers have to travel by normal speed trains, Z types should be the top options. Also, they are advised to choose the overnight sleeper trains including K367, K595, K9661/K9662, T6601/T6602, Y668, Y672, and K9668, which depart in the evening and arrive in the next morning. Traveling by overnight trains can save one-night hotel expenses and the day time. Usually, it is advised to buy a soft sleeper or hard sleeper berth in advance. In this case, passengers can lie down to have a rest.
