Shenzhen to Hong Kong Train

Nearly 100 pairs of high speed trains are operated between Shenzhen North Station / Futian Station and Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station. The bullet trains finish the running distance of about 26 - 40 kilometers (16 - 25 miles) in around 14-29 minutes. The ticket fare for a second class seat is CNY 68 from Shenzhen Futian Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and CNY 75 between Shenzhen North and West Kowloon.

Generally, a first class seat costs CNY 109 - 120 / USD 16 - 18 and the ticket fare for a business seat is CNY 204 - 226 / USD 30 - 33.

Shenzhen - Hong Kong Bullet Train vs. Bus vs. Metro vs. Ferry 

From Shenzhen to Hong Kong, the best way is to take high speed trains and it takes only 14-29 minutes. A large number of departures also ensure that passengers can leave for Hong Kong at any time.

Shenzhen – Hong Kong buses offer many choices of pick-up points and arrival points, more flexible for passengers to different destinations in Hong Kong. Generally, the cost is around CNY 45 - 150 (USD 6 - 31) for a 1 - 2h single journey.

Taking metro is also available. Nevertheless, it takes a longer time, about two hours, but it is also the cheapest way, less than CNY 30 (USD 4).

Taking a ferry may be a little expensive, costing around CNY 120 – 300 (USD 17 - 42) for the 0.5 - 1h one-way journey. But it is recommended to those who want to arrive at Hong Kong International Airport in the shortest time.

Luggage Allowance for Shenzhen – Hong Kong High Speed Train

For passengers taking high speed trains from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, at most 20 kg of luggage can be taken by adults freely, 10 kg for children (including kids on free rides), and 35 kg for diplomats. The overweight luggage is generally charged CNY 20 per kg. Please note that, according to the official document, the total dimensions (length + width + height) of each item should not exceed 130 cm (generally a 24-inch-size suitcase). There is no limit on the number of luggage. 

However, in practice, there is generally no problem for passengers to take even a 28-inch-size suitcase. Unless it is too large, passengers don’t need to worry too much about their luggage size.
