Haikou East Railway Station is about 16 miles (26 kilometers) from Haikou Railway Station, 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Meilan International Airport, and 9 miles (14 kilometers) from Holiday Beach.

As one of the major high speed train stations in the Hainan High Speed Ring Railway, Haikou East Railway Station only operates bullet trains running circling Hainan Island, including those to/from Sanya, Meilan Airport, Wenchang, Qionghai, Boao, Wanning, Lingshui Yalongwan Station, Ledong, and Lingao.

There is a large square and the station building. In the square, you can use the taxi, bus or personal cars to reach or leave the station. The two storied station building is mainly for ticket office and waiting rooms.

On the first floor, there is a large Ticket Hall in service, with 15 windows and 3 automatic ticketing machines available for ticket selling. And there is a LED screen showing the train number and the remainder tickets available. In the station, you can purchase the tickets at most 58 days in advance. The service hours of the ticket office is from 06:00am to 22:30pm.

After you buy the ticket, still right on the floor, you can go into the entrance, where you need to go through the security check with your luggage. And then you can take the escalators to the second floor, the waiting hall.

There are two larges waiting halls in the south and north of the floor. In each hall, there are restroom and boiled water available. Meanwhile, with an extra fee, you can enjoy VIP rooms in the waiting hall, which are equipped with LCD TV, soft sofa, Internet access.

Before the train's departure, you need to prepare your tickets for the inspection by the Automatic Ticket Gate. After the lights on the machines become green, you can insert your tickets into the machine and collect it on the other end. Then you can use the elevators to the platform to board the train. Just make sure your ticket in good order, for it will be rechecked when you arrive in another station.
