Chongqing - Zhengzhou Train

At present, there are over 15 pairs of trains operating between Chongqing and Zhengzhou every day to transport passengers for a distance of about 1,288 to 1,584 kilometers (800 - 984 miles), depending on different running routes. Among them, about 10 pairs are G type high speed trains traveling between Chongqing West/ Chongqing North Railway Station and Zhengzhou East Railway Station. The rest are all normal speed ones between Zhengzhou Railway Station and Chongqing / Chongqing West Railway Station.

The bullet trains take about 7.5 - 9 hours for the whole duration. For the normal ones, the time ranges from 12.5 to 20.5 hours. If you want to save the cost, taking an overnight train is a good choice. For business travelers or passengers having a tight schedule, bullet trains and flights are preferable.

 If you choose to take a normal speed ride, you should be prepared for a long journey. A sleeper ticket is highly recommended. Z49 which departs from Zhengzhou at 17:36 and arrives in Chongqing North at 05:58 is worth a mention. It only needs 12 hours but much cheaper than bullet trains. A high speed ride takes less time, but still requires 8 or 9 hours and no sleepers are available.

In this way, flight is a better option for this long route. There are many flights available and the duration is about 2 hours. Normally there are discount flights available before the departure date. Sometimes airlines release big discounts to attract more customers. The price is competitive compared with high speed rides.
