  A high speed railway along Yangtze River is being built which will connect Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan, Chongqing, and Chengdu. The part of Hefei - Chengdu is basically parallel to the existing high speed line, but the designed top speed is 350km/h (217 mph), 100 km/h (66 mph) faster, so the travel time between the two cities will be shortened to about 5 hours.
