Changsha Railway Station

Changsha Railway Station is a transportation hub on Beijing-Guangzhou, Shimen-Changsha, Zhejiang-Jiangxi and Hunan-Guizhou railways. It is 15.5 miles (25 km) from Huanghua International Airport and 6.2 miles (10 km) from the South Railway Station.

The station mainly operates ordinary trains to major domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi'an as well as some high speed trains to some nearby cities including Xiangtan, Zhuzhou and Shimenxian.

Platform

Facing west with an area of 10 acres, the station consists of the front square and a 2-storey station building. There is a clock tower with a height of 207 feet on the top of the station building. It is a landmark of the station, and reminds passengers of the time. To the south of the square is the ticket office. Bus stops, taxi stands and parking lots for private cars are in the front square, too.

Inside the Waiting Room

Before checking in, passengers should know where to have their tickets checked by reading the tickets carefully. After that, go to the platforms to get onboard. Please note that place the luggage in the right place when aboard in case that it falls and hurts others.

 Upon arriving, all passengers will get out from the exit to the front square where passengers can find bus, metro or taxi to leave the station according to their routes.

 Leave by metro:
metro entrance for line 2 or line 3 is close to the ticket office at the south side of the front square.

 Leave by bus:
Bus stops are located in the northwest of the front square. Passengers can go there to take bus to their destinations.

 Leave by taxi:
Taxi stands can also be found on the front square.

 Leave by long-distance bus:
Changzhutan Coach Station is situated 600 yards to the northwest side of the station. Passengers can take long-distance bus to get to Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Fenghuang and Zhangjiajie.
   South Train Station:
Take metro line 2 to get there directly. One should get out through exit 2. 

 Huanghua International Airport:
Take Airport Shuttle Bus Line at the Civil Aviation Hotel (400 yards to the west side of the station) and get off at the airport. The bus is available from 05:20 to 22:30 with an interval of 15 minutes. The travel time is usually 40 minutes and the ticket fare is CNY15.5.

 Mawangdui Han Tombs:
Take bus line 112 to Mawangdui Hospital South. After, walk 230 yards (210 meters) northward to the destination.

 Hunan Provincial Museum:
Take bus line 136 or 113 at the station and get off at Provincial Museum Station. And then walk 340 yards (310 meters) eastward to the destination.
 
 Fenghuang Ancient Town:
Take coaches at Changzhutan Coach Station to Fenghuang Ancient Town directly. The coach is available at 07:30, 10:00, 14:50 and 16:50. It usually takes about 5 hours and the ticket fare is CNY158.
 1. Take a train to Zhangjiajie. From Zhangjiajie Station to national park, passengers should go to Zhangjiajie Bus Terminal (470 yards to the northwest side of Zhangjiajie Railway Station) to take buses to Wulingyuan Bus Station. It takes 45 minutes and costs CNY12. And then take bus line 1 or 2 to the ticket office of the scenic spot. From Zhangjiajie Bus Terminal, there are also buses to other scenic sites of the city.
2. Or passengers can take coaches at Changzhutan Coach Station to Zhangjiajie Bus Terminal. The coach is available at 08:20, 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:40, 14:50, 16:00, 17:30, and 19:00. It takes about 4 hours and the ticket fare is CNY120. Upon arrival, change to local bus to the scenic spot.
  Ticket Office:
The ticket office is located to the south side of the front square. There are 28 ticket windows in service. If passengers purchase tickets with the passports, they should go to the windows 9 – 12, which mainly deal with tickets for overseas passengers.

 Waiting Rooms:
There are six waiting rooms available in the station for passengers’ convenience. The first waiting room, a VIP lounge and a soft seat waiting room are on the second floor. The other two waiting rooms are at the west and east sides of the first floor. In addition, a waiting room for solider and a nursing room for babies and mothers can be found in the northwest corner of the first floor. Hot drinking water and toilets are provided in each waiting room.

Please note that only soft seat/sleeper ticket holders are permitted to enter the soft seat/sleeper waiting room and they can get onboard through the green channel 30 minutes earlier than normal check-in time. Water, newspaper, magazines and WI-FI hotspots are provided for free. Likewise, only pregnant passengers and passengers traveling with babies can use the nursing room. They are also allowed to get onboard earlier than others.

 Luggage Service:
Passengers can find several left luggage spots near the exit of the station. It usually charges CNY 5 for small bags and CNY 10 for large luggage within 24 hours.

 China Railway Express:
The service is provided in the south side of the station building where passengers can consign luggage.

 Inquiry:
Information desk can be found at the east side of the entrance on 1F. Passengers can go there to search information of the schedule, departure time, arrival time etc. or seek advice or help.
