Shanghai Changfeng Park

Shanghai Changfeng Park is located at No. 189 Daduhe Road, Putuo District to the west of the city center. With an area of 366,000 square meters (437,732 square yards), it is a large-scale landscape park and a perfect combination of water and mountains. Open to the public since 1959, it is an ideal place for local people and tourists to relax.

There are more than 20 scenic spots in Changfeng Park, including Sliver Hoe Lake, Hill of Iron Arms, Maple Island, Ocean World Park, and the bronze statue of Lei Feng (an example of selflessness and modesty in Chinese culture). Among these scenic spots, Sliver Hoe Lake (Yinchu Lake) and Hill of Iron Arms (Tie Bi Hill) are the "must-see" sights.

Silver Hoe Lake

Sliver Hoe Lake is located in the center of the park. With an area of 13 hectares (33 acres), it is the main area for water activities. Hundreds of willows and poplar trees decorate the lakeside, providing dense shade for visitors to stroll around. Many stone and wooden benches line the lakeside for tourists to rest. Several distinctive fishing ponds, water-lily pools and lotus ponds are located in the southwest portion of the lake. This kind of design embodies Chinese classical gardens. Tourists can appreciate the beauty of the lake and enjoy the peace and quiet as the sun sets. The park also provides many water activities such as speed-boats and fishing.

Hill of Iron Arms

In the northeast of the park, there is a famous artificial hill – Hill of Iron Arms. With a height of 23 meters (75 feet), this hill was made from canal mud in the past. Embraced by many secondary peaks, the highest peak looks more elegant and peaceful. There is a valley between the main peak and the southeast secondary peak. It is just like an emerald in there. Lots of rare plants and flowers here make it an attractive place for sketching. The landform of Hill of Iron Arms is changeable and uneven. Tourists will see the different shapes of it from different perspectives. Some pavilions are hidden in the hillside. When one arrives at the main peak, they can see the Sliver Hoe Lake and Changfeng Park.

Maple Island

With an area of 2,666 square meters (3,189 square yards), Maple Island is located at the southeast of Sliver Hoe Lake. Lots of red and green maple trees are planted on the island, hence the name Maple Island. In autumn, numerous leaves of the maple trees turn color attracting many local people and tourists. A wooden house with green title copings is another attractive spot on the north of the island. It has 80 square meters (95 square yards) with the height of 2.9 meters (9 feet). To the south of this house, there is a pond which is surrounded by many Malus spectabilis. Birds and rare aquatics attract tourists' eyes.

Changfeng Ocean World Park

Changfeng Ocean World Park, the first ocean theme park in China, is located under Sliver Hoe Lake. It is gaining popularity among children and teenagers and in 2010, together with Shanghai Changfeng Park, received the highest national level scenic spot rating. The main building of this ocean park is located 13 meters (42 feet) under Sliver Hoe Lake. It has more than 300 categories and 15,000 species of fishes and marine animals. Among several exhibition halls, the most popular are the White Whale Show Hall and the aquarium. The White Whale Show Hall is the largest performance hall in China, holding more than 2,000 visitors. Nowadays, the aquarium is the ideal place for children and teenagers to learn science. In addition, it provides some other services, such as undersea weddings, diving and feeding activities.
