Activities on Xi'an City Wall

 This is one of the most important annual games in the city and also an international sporting event. An extra benefit is that many people from home and abroad learn much more about this ancient city by participating in this athletic contest. The International Marathon has become a special calling card for the city to expand international exchange and operations.

Entrance Fee: CNY200 for Half Marathon; CNY 200 for 13.7 Kilometers; CNY 100 for 5 Kilometers.
Starting Point: South Gate (Yongning Gate) / Archaeological Park of Weiyang Palace in Chang'an City of Western Han Dynasty
Note: the information is based on previous years, and we will update at the very first the time once the official announces the details. 
 1. Half Marathon: Starting from 100 meters to the west of the gate tower of South Gate, via Zhuque Gate – Hanguang Gate – West Gate – Yuxiang Gate – North Gate – Chaoyang Gate, return along the same route from 200 meters to the north of East Gate to the starting point.
2. 13.7 Kilometers: Starting from 100 meters to the west of the gate tower of South Gate, via Zhuque Gate – Hanguang Gate – West Gate – Yuxiang Gate – North Gate – Chaoyang Gate – East Gate – Jianguo Gate – Heping Gate – Wenchang Gate, and reach the east of the gate tower of South Gate, the finish line.
3. Five Kilometers: Starting from 100 meters to the west of the gate tower of South Gate, via Hanguang Gate, return along the same route from Southwest City Corner to the starting point.

Content: The Kite Festival is held on March 3rd of the Chinese lunar calendar every year on the City Wall. It combines Chinese traditional culture and citizen entertainment, enhancing the vitality of the wall and enriching leisure activities of the citizenry. During the festival, all kinds of kites fly in the sky, showing a thriving spring scene. The festival also has colorful activities, such as a stunt kite performance, kite exhibitions, kite-making, and performance kite-flying. A large number of citizens and tourists are attracted to participate in these activities.
