Harbin Polarland
Covering an area of 16,000 square meters (1.6 Hectares), Harbin Polarland is the first polar land themed park combining animal shows, polar land sights and an interactive experience into one. It is located at the famous scenic site in this city – Sun Island. Based on the mysterious polar region and using design ideas from an advanced theme park, the park is ready to offer every visitor a wondrous, dreamy and happy round-the-world journey which is told as stories or scenarios.
Harbin Polarland is mainly composed of "Daxing'an Mountain", "Fisherman's Wharf", "Whale's Bay", "South Pole Penguin's Island", "North Pole Animal's Home", "Happy Sea Lion's Kingdom" and other tourist attractions. Over 10,000 pole ocean animals belonging to over 600 kinds from the world gather here and actively interact with visitors.
Daxing'an Mountain
"Daxing'an Mountain" scenic area in Harbin Polarland imitates the primeval forest of Daxing'an Mountain. Visitors stop at the thick birch wood, a sea of clouds stretches before their eyes, the Songhua River murmurs, the whirling colorful windmill, the bright red fireplace and the merry water mill show the life of huntsman. Visitors are treated to a stormy surprise, when it suddenly darkens, the wind rises, the thunder rolls in the distance and the storm comes.
Fisherman's Wharf
After visitors are baptized by the storm, they are then attracted by roaring ocean waves and come by the "Fisherman's Wharf" of Harbin Polarland. In the blue sea water, they can see the hairy sea anemones and beautiful coral mountain where horseshoe crabs are hidden. In the ship of Sun Island, visitors can experience a memorable exploration through the exhibitions of the old captain's log book, mysterious charts, precise sextant, telescope and transmitter. After exploring the ship, they will understand the hardships the sailors went through for the development of marine adventure.
Whale's Bay
Coincidently, the ship of Sun Island has carried visitors to "Whale's Bay". In fact, it is the only route and the gathering place of the migration of the whales in the South Pole. In 1911, Amundsen, the explorer from Norway landed here and became the first man to conquer the South Pole. But here in the "Whale's Bay" in Harbin Polarland, visitors will see the naughty seals. Under the guide of the animal trainers, they perform acts such as welcome, greeting, prancing and turning circles in the air.
South Pole Penguin's Island
"South Pole Penguin's Island" of Harbin Polarland welcomes visitors accompanied by whistling wind. On the floating glaciers, penguins flock and perform diving. Good news came on December25, 2007 when a new member was added to this large penguin family. It is Manpo, the first South Pole penguin that was born in China's inland city. Now it is the mascot of Harbin City Tourism.
The treasures in this Polar Land are two belugas named Mira and Nicola. Their underwater performance is world renowned. Under the training of two trainers, they show visitors a romantic "Heart of the Ocean" performance by using body language. They can also bubble up water rings which grow bigger and go up slowly to the water surface. The old legend says a wish will come true when it is made before these water rings.
What's more exciting, visitors can take the "Train of Shark" to the "sea bottom" and appreciate the ferocious lingcod and sharks. If brave enough, they can also dive into the water and swim with these big water animals.
North Pole Animal's Home
In Harbin Polarland, other animals from the North Pole such as arctic wolves, arctic foxes and polar bears can be seen in "North Pole Animal's Home". Come here and enjoy a memorable polar land journey!
