More than 2,000 years ago, the local ancestors reclaimed this unique way of farming to irrigate the barren land and expand the cultivated area. The original purpose was only food production, the ancestors didn’t expect that the terraced fields they opened up with blood and sweat finally becomes a great masterpiece of art which attracts travelers all around the world. What’ more, On April 19, 2018, rice farming terraces in southern China were officially awarded Globally Important Agricultural Heritage.
The scenery of the terraces is inseparable from the growth of the crops in the farmland. The scenery in summer and autumn are the most beautiful and spectacular. From the end of June to mid-October, the terraces range from green to golden. The whole mountain is magnificently in the same color. There are also highlights in spring and winter. Every year from mid-April to mid-June, the rice terraces are filled with water for rice planting. You will be amazed by the hundreds of “water mirrors” with reflections of the sky, clouds and mountains. At this time, you can also see the farmers working in the field. During January and February, you also have a chance to enjoy the snow view on the mountain, which is also quite spectacular.

Passenger can take direct bus from Guilin Qintan Coach Station (琴潭车站) to Longji Shuangdong Station (龙脊双洞), taking about one hour and costing CNY35. The depart time is from 6:40 to 17:50. The distance between Longji Shuangdong and Longji Rice Terraces is about 7km. You still need to take another bus or taxi to the scenic area.
