Shenzhen Universidad Sports Centre is located in the northeast of Shenzhen city, about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from city center. It is the main venue of 26th World University Summer Games held in 2011. The three main buildings: stadium, gymnasium and swimming pools are like three giant crystal stones floating on the Universidad Lake, which cooperate with the surrounding mountains and green lands harmoniously. When the lights are on at night, they are even more beautiful, like those coming out from the science fiction movies. Shenzhen Universidad Sports Centre have been a new landmark of Shenzhen.

The Main Gymnasium of Shenzhen Universidad Sports Centre has two highlights. First of all, the internal roof uses environmental protection sun visor, which can shield 99.8% of infrared and ultraviolet rays, making sure it is warm inside in winter and cool inside in summer. In addition, in order to make sure that all audience can watch the games closely, a set of six-sided bucket full-color screen is set directly above the center of the playing field, with a distance of only 60 meters (66 yards) to audience.

Swimming Pool

With a total floor area of about 43,000 square meters (51,428 square yards) and a height of 23.5 meters (26 yards), the Swimming Pool is built in accordance with the latest FINA standards, comparable to the Beijing National Aquatics Center “Water Cube". The windows of the Swimming Pool are actually movable shutters that can be opened. On a hot summer day, water vapor from the swimming pool evaporates through the shutters, therefore, the Swimming Pool is like a “Breathing House”.

The Swimming Pool is also a multi-functional water sports center, which can not only hold large-scale international events, but also provide the public a site for water entertainment, sports, leisure, fitness and others. The training pool is divided into shallow and deep water areas to meet the fitness needs of different people.
