How to take the Yangon Circular Train and is it worth?

Yangon, being the most populous city and important economic center of Myanmar, is a significant stop for travelers to Myanmar. It served as the capital of Myanmar until 2006. Due to relocation of the administrative functions, the capital is changed to Naypyidaw. Ridding on the Yangon Circular Train can be regarded as one of the Best Things to Do in Yangon.

If you have a spare day in Yangon, traveling on the circular train is an interesting ride. You can board the train at Yangon central railway station, only five minutes walking distance from the famous Bogyoke Aung San Market. Please do not worry about getting lost in the station, as there are always plenty of English speaking staff who can give you some guidance. However, you are suggested to get to the station as early as possible since your train may leave several minutes early or you need to struggle in the crowds of passengers on the platforms and then get onboard to secure your seats. If you are unlucky to miss the train, you can wait for the next one as the trains run daily at regular intervals before 5:00pm.

It is free to get on and off the train at any station to explore the local areas. However, we recommend travelers ride and enjoy the entire 3-hour trip, which you can travel across the crowded residential zones to the peaceful farming areas. You can take in plenty of interesting things and beautiful landscapes along the trip. Besides, please don’t forget to take pictures of the most picturesque sceneries. Be prepared for this challenging travel on the shaky and slow train, but it’s surely a memorable journey in your lifetime.
