Delhi

Delhi, the current capital of India and the capital of Mughal Dynasty (1526-1857) in history, is located in the north of India along the Yamuna River. It's the second largest city in the country after Mumbai. It has more than 10 million people and is administrated directly by the federal government. People usually call it "National Capital Territory of Delhi".

In Delhi, we can not only experience the ancient and rich culture but also learn the efforts that modern Indians do to get rid of poverty and move forward independently. In addition, Delhi is a good transfer city for tourists who want to visit other beautiful cities in the north. An India tour often starts from Delhi. Delhi metropolis consists of three municipalities: Delhi, New Delhi and Delhi Cantonment.
 

Indian Gate

As a salient landmark of Delhi, Indian Gate was situated astride the Rajpath. It is the origin of many important roads of Delhi. Designed by Edwin Lutyens and built in 1921, it was called All India War Memorial at first in order to commemorate the soldiers who died in the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. It looks like the Triumphal Arch in France. There are many cultural activities and business for visitors to attend. Many political protests were held there as well, including the demonstration that people urged the government to change the law.
 

Red Fort

Red Fort, the imperial palace in Mughal Dynasty, is located in the southeastern downtown of Delhi. It is named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and it's similar to Agra Fort. The red wall and the museum inside the fort are so splendid that we should pay time to have a good visit. There are exquisite and complex sculptures on the wall and pillars. On the other hand, there are beautiful shows for tourists at night.
 

Agra

Agra, an ancient city in the northwest of the country, is located on the bank of the Yamuna River, 120mi (193 km) far from Delhi. It's not only the freight station between Delhi and Cawnpore but the traffic fort connecting Rajasthan. From the beginning of 16 century to the beginning of 18 century, Agra had twice being the capital of Mughal Dynasty which ruled the country for hundreds of years.
 

TajMahal

Tagore described TajMahal as "the tear-drop on the cheek of time". Reputed as "World's Most Beautiful Architecture", TajMahal is a must for all travelers to India. Every year, lots of visitors pass by the arch in Islamic style of TajMahal to pilgrimage in front of the tomb of Queen MumtazMahal. TajMahal was commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan, the fifth emperor of Mughal Dynasty in order to commemorate his Persia queen MumazMahal. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1983.
 

Agra Fort

Agra Fort is located on a hill along the bank of the River Yamuna and 1.8 miles (3km) far away from TajMahal. Built with red sandstones, it's also called Red Fort. It was the imperial city of Mughal Dynasty built in 1573, functioned as both a palace and a castle, making it different from the Red Fort in Delhi. Being majestic and splendid, it is a representative of Islamic buildings and was listed in World Heritage in 1983.
 

Varanasi

Varanasi is a holy land where you could be suddenly enlightened. When enjoying the sunrise and sunset along the Ganges River, along with holy music, and dim figures of pilgrims, you may feel like traveling in the time tunnel. Varanasi is also one of the best places to see Indians bath in the Ganges to wash away their crimes.
 

Amber Fort

Built in 1592, Amber Fort, the former capital of Jaipur, is located in a hill south of Jaipur. It is called the Amber Fort because it was constructed with ivory, pale yellow, white and rosy stones and it looks like amber in the distance. It occupies a large area and stands against the mountain. There are many independent palaces inside which adopt the Islamic architecture style. The sculpture in the palace is very delicate and fancy.

Chaat

Chaat is a kind of delicious snack. It's very common in snack bars of the country. It springs from the north of India and gets popular in the south. Its name Chaat originated from Hindi cāṭचाट which means palatable and delicate, cāṭnāचाटना which means lick and Prakritcaṭṭeiचट्टेइ which means having a good appetite.
 

Kebab

Kebab is a kind of roast meat which originated from the Middle East. You can eat it directly or with round flat cakes and vegetables.
 

Biryani

Biryani is made of meat, rice, vegetables, yogurt and seasonings. It may taste a little spicy.
 

Lassi

Lassi is the traditional yogurt in India. It has various tastes, such as salty and sweet. Young people nowadays usually put the fruits into the yogurt. Visitors can buy it in the streets of Jama Masjid of Old Delhi.
