    What an Amazing Day!
I was warmly greeted by Rocky, my tour guide, at the hotel. Being the last one to be picked up, we headed straight to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It was bitter cold, but that didn’t stop Rocky one bit, he was very informative, had a good sense of humor and equipped with his camera, shooting pictures of the sights and of the people in the group, it was like bringing along your own photographer! The Great Wall was amazing, not crowded at all, we had plenty of time to explore and take pictures. On the way back to the hotel, Rocky shared his photos with us! I can’t wait to get back hotel to see them! I highly recommend this trip and Rocky. Less

She arranged train travel between cities, train station drop offs and pick ups, hotel transfers—everything. And once I was in China, she stayed in touch regularly by text to make sure each day went as planned, that I got to the right train platforms, was met by drivers and tour guides as scheduled, and that every other detail went smoothly and according to plan. It’s really hard to say enough about how conscientious, helpful, and available Leslie was at every stage, from being to end. I’m glad I found Leslie, and I would recommend Leslie without hesitation as a travel planner and consultant to anyone. Less

    The Greatest Wall!
One of the highlights of our trip to China! ???? We took the chairlift route and walked to the cable car station along the wall, which was enough of a hike and you really get amazing views of the section of the wall. We also enjoyed the Forbidden City, which you could easily spend days exploring. The whole tour was well organised and our guide Selina made sure we understood the history, along with answering all of our questions. 'Follow Candy' - excellent 3 days in Beijing
We were on a 14 day small group tour of China with ChinaTravelGuide starting in Beijing.

Candy was very knowledgable and made sure that we all saw and understood as much as possible in the very busy three days that she was looking after. It would have been impossible to see as much as we did without her help and guidance.

None of us in our group will ever forget her and her call of "Follow Candy" as she led us through the, often very busy, locations in this massive city. In fact we called ourselves the 'Follow Candy Group' for the rest of the tour around China.

I was once a tour guide myself so recognise it when the job is done well - this was an excellent tour given the time available. Less

Excellent guide on tour of Terracotta Warriors and city wall of Xi’an

We particularly enjoyed the Terracotta Warriors. It was really good to be able to meet Mr Yang, one of the farmers who first unearthed the warriors and also very satisfying to be able to make our own small replicas of the warriors.

Xi'an is an interesting city and we especially like exploring the old city walls and meeting local people nearby as well as exploring the Muslim Quarter.

The Tang Dynasty Show was even better than we were expecting it to be (though going to it did make it a very long day, we were glad that we did).

Thanks, Celine, for making it all so enjoyable. I was once a tour guide myself so recognise a professional when I meet one. Less

    X’ian in a day
The best day tour I’ve ever done! The highlight, of course, was the terracotta warriors. They were incredible and there was the right mix of being escorted and free time.

Tracy was an amazing guide, very informative and organised. There was so much packed into the day, but it didn’t feel rushed. A must for anyone who wants to see the highlights of X’ian in a day!

We had a fantastic day with Chloe our guide. Despite the typhoon weather, we were able to have a good day seeing the sights and making the most of our time in Shanghai. Chloe was able to tailor the day to fit our interests and was a pleasure to spend time with. We enjoyed trying the different Shanghai speciality’s and the museum was a highlight.

    Incredible Shanghai
Shanghai is breathtaking ! Probably the most vibrant city on the planet. Our guide, Sophie Lee, made our day trip very enjoyable. Her expert knowledge of the city, it's hostory and it's offerings was comprehensive. Sophie tailored the day to our taste and was very helpful with extra-tour needs. We visited several cities with Travel China Guide and our experiences have been excellent. Sophie was one of our best guides ! Highly recommended

Shanghai was the final destination on the small group tour I joined with Travel China Guide back in September this year. The itinerary indicated that the tour in Shanghai was set for one day; yet, I was eager to discover all that this vibrant and developed city, one of the largest in the country, had to offer.

On the first day of the tour ( the next morning as the tour arrived Shanghai at night ), however, the typhoon Bebinca, which hadn't been seen in the past 75 yeas, unexpectedly made landfall in Shanghai. Despite the impending severe weather, the sky was moderately breezy. Our knowledgeable tour guide, Martin, was able to guide the tour strolling on the historic Bund waterfronts promenade where most of the colonial-era buildings lining up along the Huangpu River. We also visited the classical Yu Garden, known for its architecture reflecting the former rich rank, and explored the former French Concession - Tianzifang, where the old ancient Shanghai contrasts with modern establishments just across the street like Starbucks, Peet's and various trendy shops.

Based on the itinerary, we were supposed to visit the Shanghai Museum and enjoy a river tour on the Huangpu Rive to view the towering skyscrapers in Pudong across the Bund. However, the activities were called off due to increasingly heavy rain and strong winds. Unexpectedly, Martin announced to everyone that we would receive a small partial refund for the cancelled activities. I was truly impressed and appreciated for this policy implemented by Travel China Guide, and I commended Martin for following through with the agenda.

For most of the tour members, it was a brief day in Shanghai as they prepared to head home, but for me, it marked the beginning of a solo adventure since I had planned to extend my stay in the city for few more days after the tour.

Indeed, Shanghai is a lively metropolis, one of the largest and most populated cities in the country. It is a city blended with Eastern and Western cultures, with traditional temples nestled among modern skyscrapers. Jing'an Temple, while not a major tourist spot in some tour itinerary, is easily accessible via the Metro and exemplifies this blend. I just want to emphasize how easy it is to navigate the city by local transportation like a local. Also, I was remarkably impressed that I went from Shanghai to Suzhou in just 30 minutes by bullet train; this quick travel was made possible by the high-speed rail introduced about two decades ago.

The Shanghai city's modernization over the past decades is clearly reflected from its growing skyscrapers. Across the Bund in Pudong, is the IFC building which is conveniently located near major attractions like the Shanghai Tower, Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and the iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower, all are easily accessible via Metro or the hop-on-off double-decker buses. At night, this is the place showcases the panoramic view of the vibrant lights illuminating from the various skyscrapers.

As a newcomer to this lively city, I felt thrilled with each location I explored. It's a safe city with police presence almost everywhere. Thanks to my phone's travel plan, I navigated like I was at home, using apps for translation and maps. While cash is accepted, mobile wallets like WeChat and Alipay are much more convenient.

In summary, you'll find some historical sites that have become quite commercialized in this bustling metropolis, yet their historical charm still can be seen. If you enjoy exploring at your own pace, Shanghai should definitely be on your travel list . Alternatively, if you prefer a guided experience, Travel China Guide comes highly recommended. Less

Guilin really puts on a show!

From there we headed towards the city to see Elephant Trunk Hill. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded and noisy around the best viewing areas when we visited making it hard to see the best views or hear all of the commentary, despite Li's best efforts.

Our hotel, the Sheraton, was in a great location close to the river and city centre and we found the buffet style breakfasts in the coffee shop were excellent though it was very crowded both mornings. Our room was OK but just a little tired and disappointing compared to some of the others on the tour. Two comfortable chairs would have been better that just one for a couple.

The city is very interesting and friendly with markets and food options of all sorts though we did encounter some issues with misunderstandings over language translations but that can all be part of the travel experience in a foreign country.

We discovered that one of the best (and reasonably priced) options for a local meal is, ironically, the Irish pub next to the hotel which had almost no Irish meal options but some excellent Chinese ones making it a favourite of many of the locals, including Li!

The artificial waterfall which flows over the side of the Waterfall Hotel in the city at certain times in the evening is as spectacular as it is unexpected and worth the short walk.

The beautiful cruise to Yangshuo on the Li River was outstanding and one of the highlights of the whole tour. Li came along and made sure we missed nothing. It was wonderful! We had been warned that the lunch provided on the cruise might be disappointing but we enjoyed it very much and found the hospitality on the boat to be excellent.

Yangshuo was a very interesting and attractive little town where we had time for a short break before heading out to the countryside to walk around a small farming village which was quite interesting and showed us a very different aspect to local life.

There was an optional evening cruise on the Li River in the city area. We nearly didn't bother but that would have been a huge mistake. It was breathtaking and another of the highlights of our whole trip! It is so good that we think it should be included as part of the main tour. Guilin really puts on a show! Li, again, came along to make sure that we really enjoyed ourselves.

Thanks, Guilin and thanks QiuyanLi. Less

We loved our time in Chengdu with our fantastic guide Bella! The trip was magical in many ways, including exploring the city and seeing the “pandas”climbing the buildings, having authentic tea by the river, but of course, seeing the pandas and a 4 month old baby panda . We wish we had 2-3 more days in the city, and we will be back to Chengdu in the future.
